THE DISAPPEARANCE OF JOHNNY BRADLEY

May 3, 2005

Johnny Bradley was 20 years old when he went missing on 5/3/2005 after being discharged from Strong Memorial Hospital. He checked himself into Strong the day prior for a condition he had since he was a child. This condition also required him to take medication every day to survive, but Johnny has never refilled his prescription since his disappearance. His car was found abandoned not too long after his disappearance and his father says someone tried to use his bank card in Miami, Florida 2 days after his disappearance, but that the officer on his case did not follow up on that. There has been little media coverage on his case and his father, Ray Bradley, says he feels RPD has not done enough in his sons case.

OUR GOAL

Our goal for this film is to show what life is like through the perspective of families with missing children.

  • Highlight if/ how their personal understanding of “home” changed after the child's disappearance.

  • Highlight the processes and struggles families go through in the aftermath of the disappearance.

  • Highlight what has given them strength during this time/ the good that they found during these dark times.

  • We have found that in missing person cases the perspective of the families is often lost in the media or overshadowed by that of police officers and the news media. We are hoping this film can share a different perspective of missing children’s cases by explaining it through the lens of family members and how their life/ “home” has changed. By sharing this story through the families perspectives, we feel this could potentially be used as a resource for other families who may be in a similar situation but are unaware of what to do.
